NEET 2023 Seat Matrix: All You Need to Know about MBBS & BDS Seats

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is a nationwide entrance exam for undergraduate medical and dental courses in India. The exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and is compulsory for admission to all government and private medical and dental colleges in India.

The state-wise distribution of BDS seats is as follows:

  • Tamil Nadu: 2,246 seats
  • Karnataka: 2,220 seats
  • Uttar Pradesh: 2,053 seats
  • Maharashtra: 1,950 seats
  • Andhra Pradesh: 1,900 seats

Government state quota

A total of 15% of the MBBS and BDS seats in India are reserved for the government state quota. This means that 15% of the seats in each state are reserved for students who are domiciled in that state.

The government state quota is further divided into different categories, such as general, SC, ST, OBC, and EWS. The percentage of seats reserved for each category varies from state to state.

Seat reservation

In addition to the government state quota, there is also a certain percentage of seats reserved for different categories of students, such as SC, ST, OBC, and EWS. The percentage of seats reserved for each category is as follows:

  • SC: 15%
  • ST: 7.5%
