National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, popularly known as NEET is a national level test for admissions into undergraduate (UG) courses of government as well as private medical colleges of India. On successfully clearing the test the students can opt for MBBS/BDS courses in 595 Medical Colleges of India as of 2021.

Medical Colleges in the State, in May 2007, The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) - Guwahati, an autonomous Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare - Government of India, was established under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna (PMSSY).
